Opportune Pianos is a mobile piano technology workshop established by Rae Howell, to help your piano perform at its most efficient. Our services include piano tuning, piano regulation, voicing, repairs, general servicing, deep cleaning, and full piano reconditioning. Piano sourcing and inspections are also welcome, alongside ‘makeovers’ prior to instrument selling.

Rae’s lifelong fascination with piano technology has led her through a career as an international award winning composer-performer and director of multi-artform projects, to her work as founder and skilled piano artisan at Opportune Pianos.

After years in search of the perfect piano, she has studied and worked professionally in many places over the globe, including Melbourne, London and New York, gaining her initial technician skill set at The Piano Technology School in the UK, followed by specialised training with the C. Bechstein Piano Factory in Germany, and Yamaha Europe (UK division). She has extensive hands-on workshop experience, sales showroom preparation, and domestic piano tuning and technician work both in the UK and Australia.

Rae’s musical expertise and professional performing experience on the piano makes her an ideal technician to understand the nuances of pitch, resonance and overall quality of tone, as well as mechanical efficiency, that can be achieved for your piano.
